Black Health Alliance (“we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to maintaining the privacy of anyone who uses AMANI’s Mental Health and Substance Use website, www.amaniservices.ca  (the “Website”) and any related subsites. This Privacy Policy (this “Policy” governs the privacy practices that apply when you access the Website. Importantly, when you use the Website to enroll in services provided by us or our collaborators (the “AMANI Services”), the privacy policies applicable to those services will govern. This Website also contains links to other websites that are not our subsites. Upon entering other sites, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of those sites.

Privacy Principles

Black Health Alliance adheres to the principles of the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information (PIPEDA) and manages the collection, access, use, retention, disclosure and disposal of personal information in keeping with those principles.

This policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information when you use the service and details your privacy rights and protections under Canadian law.

While using the Website, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email addresses are collected only from users of the AMANI Services, when you enroll for AMANI Services . Users are individuals who access the www.amaniservices.ca website.   Email addresses of visitors to the Website are collected only with consent and when specifically and clearly requested; for example, through the form on the “Contact Us” page of the website.
  • Usage Data collected when you visit the Website

  • Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Website. Usage Data may include information such as your device’s Internet Protocol address (IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

The Black Health Alliance may use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Website: including to monitor the usage of our Website.
  • To contact you: To contact you by email should you opt in to contact us for further support, resources, inquiries and manage any requests you have of us.
  • For other purposes: We may use your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our Website and campaigns and to evaluate and improve our Website and your experience.

  • With collaborators: We may share your personal information with our collaborators, including but not limited to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), to monitor and analyze the use of our Website and, with your consent, to connect you to AMANI services.

    With Affiliates: We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy. Affiliates include our Website and Graphics Developer

Retention of Your Personal Information

Black Health Alliance will retain your Personal Information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Black Health Alliance will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Website, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

Delete Your Personal Information

You have the right to delete or request that we assist in deleting the Personal Information that we have collected about you. You may also contact us to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. Please note, however, that we may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

Children’s Privacy

If you are under the age of 13, you should discuss the use of this website with your parent or guardian and obtain their consent to your use of the Website and any information you submit through the Website. We will only knowingly collect Personal Information from children less than 13 years old) with the express consent of their parents or guardians at the time of collection. By providing your express consent on behalf of your child, you warrant that you have the right and authority to grant such consent.

Our Website contains links to other websites that are not operated by Black Health Alliance. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site and subject to their own privacy policy. 

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
